Our community is very unique because we were built using a research-based design from the Alzheimer’s Association and other memory care specialists. We have four separate houses connected within the community. Each house employs a color-coded door scheme and signage to help residents remember where they live by tapping into different memory retrieval systems more than simple verbal/written queuing so that there is a reinforcement of independence and dignity for each resident.
Whereas some residents thrive in the security and familiarity that the individual houses offer, others are on the move looking for the next adventure. For these residents, there are two options available to them. The first is to walk out the front door of their houses and into the community square where the Beauty Shop, Café, Community Center, and opportunities for socialization await them. The second option is to go outside and walk our beautiful strolling paths, sit on the porch in a comfortable rocking chair, or sit in the gazebo just to enjoy the warm Georgia sunshine. Whether it is inside or outside, The Court at Decatur is specially designed for those residents who need specialized assisted living due to memory loss or cognitive problems. The Court at Decatur is much more than a place to live – it is home!
