Skill in managing difficult-to-care-for residents – verbally abusive, physically aggressive, wound prevention and care, fall risk, wandering, pacing and elopement risk, etc. Ability to provide care to people who might otherwise be referred to a skilled nursing facility - incontinence of bowel and bladder, stage 1 and 2 wounds, two-person and Hoyer lift transfer, 1-on-1 hand feeding, oxygen, catheters and ostomies, and hospice care.
Health and wellbeing focus. Management 1) collaborates with multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals to proactively address each client’s needs, thus minimizing mental or physical health crises, trips to the ER and hospitalizations, 2) advocates for each client’s optimal care with medical providers and family, 3) supports families in managing the medical system and connecting with community resources.
Day and residential respite care available. Day respite clients spend several hours a day at Providence Place for one or more days each week, participate in our therapeutic enrichment program, join residents for meals and can even have a shower. On a space available basis, we provide residential respite care for extended periods up to one month.
